The Streaming Giant Selects Spot-On Actor for Bon Clay in One Piece Upcoming Installment

The Secret Organization is geared up to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the major clash isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.

The streaming service revealed recently that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Bon Clay. This character has the ability to change into an perfect replica of any person they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will portray a rendition of that role re-envisioned as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and animated series.

The new cast member will work alongside several other recently announced actors who will portray the group to the screen, including leader the main antagonist, played by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Though this character is a important part of the group, the individual won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this marks a notable change in the schedule of their first appearance, one that could signal further changes to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and emotional depth makes them a standout choice for the part. Besides their recent voice performance in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for creating and performing in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece show is due to premiere for its season two on the tenth of March, 2026.
